Baseball and Beach Chairs

Since we’ve been neglecting you, dear readers, let’s do a quick recap of this weekend:

Friday evening, Scott and Lori joined us for dinner and game night. The game part resulted in only one round of Pictionary, which it turns out Jamey does not like! Mostly, I just find this amusing because there are a few select games to which I am not partial. I have played a few of these games with him before, so he knows which ones I really do not enjoy. (No need to go into detail here what those games are…but give Jamey a few minutes of your time and I’m sure he’ll be happy to reenact my displeasure. He for some reason gets sick amusement from this, probably because he just thinks I’m ridiculous.) Therefore, learning that he has a few games that can equally wind him is fairly amusing, notably something as silly as Pictionary.

Saturday night, we were all-American and headed to the Charleston RiverDogs game with a good little group. There’s really no bad seat in the house, but I have to admit we had a pretty sweet view:

Batterrrrr up!

We might have gone off our little diet that we’ve been quite successful at for the past week, but that was because we had to try this: Continue reading

Harry Potter

Anyone who knows Claire knows that she is a, well, ravenous Harry Potter fan. I have always liked Harry Potter, too. Many of our initial conversations were about Harry Potter and -I think- seemed more like an oral exam. It felt in many cases that I was being tested to ensure that I really what I was talking about.

Luckily, it would appear that I passed these tests.

So, today, I’m going to start a different sort of post. I’m going to create a repository of all the funny Harry Potter pictures that I run across on the internet. So Claire can review them later at her leisure. Check back more as I keep adding them.

So, without further ado:

Have your cake.

Like me, Jamey really likes sweets. And desserts. And stuff with sugar in general.

What’s weird to me, though, is that he prefers sugary, fruity things over anything else. I on the other hand would probably eat my fingers if they were covered in chocolate, since chocolate is all I really need in life.

Which is why this conversation did not surprise me in the least:

Claire: What do you think of angel food cake?

Jamey: Meh. [Translation: I’m not motivated to care.]

Claire: What would you think of angel food cake if it looked like this and was on our gorgeous registry cake stand?

Angel food. With strawberries. On a cake stand. Simple, really.

Jamey: (serious pause.) Meh…? [Translation: I could be convinced.]

As you can see, I have a lifetime conflict ahead of me.
