Clean sheets and a book are calling my name.

Clean sheets and fluffed pillows on the bed, I started this evening with a windows-down drive home and a glass of wine to welcome myself back from a good day’s work. Jamey has been gone this week, but we’re crossing our fingers that he’ll get out early tomorrow morning. Still, a little reprieve apart puts us both in that homesick-I-miss-you mode, so of course he and I are both counting down the hours until he’s returned – we just aren’t as outwardly ridiculous about it, right babycakes? Sangria afternoons

End of the weekend sangria. With a heat index of 115, all anyone can do is sit inside and absorb the air conditioning, unless you’re like me and head to the outlets mid-day. Therefore, sangria with a slice of orange is a necessary treat.

Jamey and I are making summer meatloaf tonight. We hope you all have had a marvelous weekend!

Baseball and Beach Chairs

Since we’ve been neglecting you, dear readers, let’s do a quick recap of this weekend:

Friday evening, Scott and Lori joined us for dinner and game night. The game part resulted in only one round of Pictionary, which it turns out Jamey does not like! Mostly, I just find this amusing because there are a few select games to which I am not partial. I have played a few of these games with him before, so he knows which ones I really do not enjoy. (No need to go into detail here what those games are…but give Jamey a few minutes of your time and I’m sure he’ll be happy to reenact my displeasure. He for some reason gets sick amusement from this, probably because he just thinks I’m ridiculous.) Therefore, learning that he has a few games that can equally wind him is fairly amusing, notably something as silly as Pictionary.

Saturday night, we were all-American and headed to the Charleston RiverDogs game with a good little group. There’s really no bad seat in the house, but I have to admit we had a pretty sweet view:

We might have gone off our little diet that we’ve been quite successful at for the past week, but that was because we had to try this: Continue reading

You don’t ask for no diamond rings

Jamey and I are sitting in our house, waiting for friends Lori and Scott to come over for game night. (I know, we’re 60.)

While this weekend has only started, I can tell it’s already going to be a good one. It will be one of our few left now until the weekends away pick up again; until then, we are going to sit here in our little home, listen to one of our favorite songs, drink a small cocktail, and be at peace.

Happy Friday, everyone.
