Clean sheets and a book are calling my name.

Clean sheets and fluffed pillows on the bed, I started this evening with a windows-down drive home and a glass of wine to welcome myself back from a good day’s work. Jamey has been gone this week, but we’re crossing our fingers that he’ll get out early tomorrow morning. Still, a little reprieve apart puts us both in that homesick-I-miss-you mode, so of course he and I are both counting down the hours until he’s returned – we just aren’t as outwardly ridiculous about it, right babycakes? Sangria afternoons

20110731-044626.jpg
End of the weekend sangria. With a heat index of 115, all anyone can do is sit inside and absorb the air conditioning, unless you’re like me and head to the outlets mid-day. Therefore, sangria with a slice of orange is a necessary treat.

Jamey and I are making summer meatloaf tonight. We hope you all have had a marvelous weekend!

Updates needed!

Man,
We’ve been doing the worst thing for a personal blog… not updating it.

Basically, the past few weeks have been pretty crazy and Claire and I have been very busy.

Here are a few reasons for it:

  • Claire has a new job! – I know it’s no secret around here that Claire is the driving force of this little thing and now that she’s blogging all day at work…
  • Jamey is lazy. – I know it’s no secret around here that Claire is the driving force for this little thing, and if she’s busy or distracted, I will also be distracted and
  • Claire and Jamey had their first wedding party event. – This was quite an event!

Here’s Claire shooting her first gun:

As you can see, she did not enjoy it. I had to finish her round for her. She also shot a pistol this day, but we don’t have a picture of that one.

  • Claire and Jamey had their Pre-Cana(Catholic marriage preparation\training) classes. – We just got back from a little jaunt up to Chattanooga to participate in the “Picture of Love” engaged couples’ retreat. It was great. Mostly, we had a great time visiting the Chattanooga branch of the Monahan family.
These are just a few of the activities that have yet to be blogged about.
Claire and I are going to go wander around the grocery store to find dinner and then we might just give you some glimpses into our lives together.
Stay tuned!

Back home and booking it

It’s funny: even if we take a few days off from the blog, Jamey and I still spend so many conversations planning future posts. “Oh, take a picture! That’d be a good blog post!” and “Should we make this? We could blog about it…would probably be popular with the readers,” etc. are two of many topics we throw around. We truly are devoted to all of you, dear readers.

I did start a new job at the end of last week, which explains where I’ve been. And can you believe it? Jamey is finally back in town!

To start the weekend off right, Jamey and I went to our favorite nearby Greek restaurant and ordered this:

The Super Steve/Sam whoever Special. So glad we have leftovers right about now.

Jamey suggested I take a picture before we dig in, but $18.99 for this whole stinkin’ thing? You better believe we split that delicious puppy with two side salads and an extra helping of Greek potatoes. The shrimp are my favorite part, so Jamey in all his thoughtfulness began to brainstorm how we can recreate the shrimp Jamey&Claire-style. (We’re thinking this seasoning might do the trick, which is what we use to give our Greek burgers an awesome kick. Now to figure out how they sauté those shrimp to get them just right…) Continue reading

R&R

Yesterday afternoon, Jamey and I sat on our porch and basked in the late Sunday rays, books in hand and bellies full of a great Easter brunch.

Our front porch.

Jamey lounged on the chaise while I sprawled out over the rocker, and we mindlessly chatted about our house and the passers-by.

“Jamey, what should we write our blog post about tomorrow?” Most of our Sunday afternoons are spent tossing around this question. We review what we’ve recently cooked, who we’ve spent our time with, and what’s amused us the past few days.

Jamey closed his book and stretched. “I don’t know. What have we done this weekend?” Continue reading
