A Birthday to Remember

Last week, I threw a surprise birthday party in honor of Jamey’s 30th. In order to not understate the results of this event, I have to admit that it was pretty much epic.

As soon as I got home from work, Jamey and I hopped in the car and headed toward a mysterious location. I did a good job keeping this destination secret from him, and I have to compliment his friends as well for keeping everything under wraps.

We turned and twisted down familiar roads until arriving at the Maritime Center. By then, Jamey guessed we were doing a cruise; I confirmed, but he still didn’t know the full plan. Continue reading →

When my college roommates ventured out to Charleston in April, I invited them to put together a blog post recounting their experiences. Even though that was now a couple months ago, the memories are still fresh – and even fresher with today’s post.

A Charleston Caprese Sandwich

Yesterday evening, Jamey and I grabbed the golf clubs and headed for the driving range. It’s something I’ve been aching to do for several months now, and for some reason it always gets put on hold due to inclement weather, being too tired, going out to eat instead, and other excuses/diversions.

This time, it was a nice little after work excuse to stretch the muscles and blow off steam.

We came home to the sous vide that as of last night had only been stewing for 48 hours. (More on that after tonight’s dinner!) The rest of our fridge was full of frozen chicken, other frozen things, broccoli, homemade salsa, and miscellaneous condiments. Two things I noticed were Palmetto cheese and tomatoes.
